My XP SP3 had IE 6.0 running on it, downloaded and installed IE8 as advised, I got the message asking if I want to activate on startup, I clicked yes and then had to wait a minute or two before the activation window appeared, as suggested wait a few mins for it to appear as on mine it looked like nothing was happening.

		<description>I&#039;m stuck in a loop. I was finally able to get to the activation window. There it tells me that my windows is already activated. So I click ok and It logs me off. When I go to log back on It repeats telling me I need to activate.</description>
