Adobe: Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator.

Why in the world am I getting this error?

Well, it turns out that there is a way to forcefully disable updates for Adobe products (CS5 and CS6 products anyway), and somehow it was enabled on my machine.  The details are here.  To fix it, just delete or rename the AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat file.

  1. Also having problems updating camera raw. This solution didn’t work for me eiether. Any fixes?

  2. Many-many thanks!!! After updating to CC 2015 some time ago I lost access to the old Adobe DPS in InDesign and the re-installation of InDesign CC 2014 didn’t help, as the updates were blocked – I was unable to install the DPS Tools with exactly the same error as above and had to use two computers for digital publishing (as I have to use the old DPS enterprise license). Now that’s all in the past. Opened the file you mentioned, changed the Surpression value from 1 to 0 – and my life changed with it ))) Be blessed!

  3. Dear Customer service,
I tried to upgrade my standalone licensed Lightroom 6.0 to 6.9 but unfortunately I receive this message, ” Update could not be applied”.
Can you please help me to upgrade.
    Thanks,
